WP 5 Implementation of Landscape Breeding in commercial plantations

Description: The Swedish commercial forests in large percentage will consist of mixtures of cloned half-sib progenies whose kinship can be reconstructed with molecular markers. This information can be used to estimate genetic diversity and ”realistic” genetic gain in commercial forests to select the best trees as seed donors, followed by Genomic Selection in the nursery stage. In this project, we will develop a novel approach to circumvent the limitations of conventional breeding.
